Exciting Breakthrough in Personal Transportation

PUMA GM Segway Features - Drive-By-Wire Digital Controls
"Drive-by-wire digital controls: Think about this whole thing as the digital solution to an analog problem. All steering inputs, acceleration, and deceleration are done with zeros and ones instead of levers, cables and pads."

PUMA GM Segway Features - Intuitive User Interface
"Intuitive user interface: Shifting the center of mass of the vehicle controls how fast it goes and how quickly it stops. Check out the video to see it in action."

PUMA GM Segway Features - Digital Dashboard
"Digital dashboard: Data from the vehicle such as speed, battery life, and other information can flow wireless to a hand held device wirelessly. Add in real-time traffic and other connectivity info. And you'll be armed with enough information to sail through your commute."

The PUMA, along with several other transportation alternatives could be America's answer to weaning itself from dependence on oil. Recent developments have brought us the Smart Car, The Pod Car, and an increased interest in Scooters.

That is so cute!
This is sooo cool!
Interesting. Is it street-legal?
Sounds real neat, super reporting!
Great reporting! I'm not sure how the Puma will work in localities where it is deemed as not street legal and also not appropriate for the sidewalks.
Here's the thing, though. Even thouth the PUMA has all the efficiencies you described, most car owners, even if they are city dwellers, do not stay entirely within the city. I certainly did not when I lived in Washington, DC. That being the case, 35 miles per charge just won't cut it. The PUMA would not be a replacement car, it would be an additional car. But it's a step in the right direction; I will say that.
It did not look that safe.
The Puma GM Segway sounds like a great new two-person vehicle that is good for the environment. Thank you for the nice write-up!
interesting
It's a step in the right direction. Still, in may ways it's impractical.
